The shadows are very impressive in the face. The pattern in the background I also think allows the face to stands out even more. I am a little confused with the pattern on the top of the head, I feel that if you would have continued the pattern in the bottom it would all have a better over all unity.
I really do think that this is the best piece you've done so far. I agree with Santiago when he talked about the shadows that you created on the face. I really love the patterns that created on the bottom of the page. I bet your nephew looks really cute in person!
